Daniel M. Shea
Daniel M. Shea, a partner of Nelson, Mullins, Riley & Scarborough, practices in Atlanta in labor and employment law and litigation. A member of the State Bar of Georgia, Mr. Shea is also a member of the Illinois Bar. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the First, Fourth, Tenth and Eleventh Circuits, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

Mr. Shea has a national practice and represents management before state and federal courts and government agencies. He frequently lectures on labor relations at seminars and conferences. Mr. Shea has extensive experience in matters relating to collective bargaining, union arbitration, trial practice, particularly of employment discrimination cases, and roughly 25 to 40 percent of his practice during the last 10 years has been with respect to restrictive covenants-employment agreements on a nationwide basis. Mr. Shea's FLSA practice has also been a significant part of his work for 30 years, including the trial of several wage-hour cases, including collective action claims.

Mr. Shea is a member of the American Bar Association and its Labor and Employment Law and Litigation sections, the Atlanta Bar Association and the Illinois Bar Association. He is also a member of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.

Prior to joining Nelson Mullins in 2004, Mr. Shea was prominently affiliated with another leading Southeastern law firm. From 1971-72, Mr. Shea served as a legal officer with the U.S. Army Continental Intelligence Center at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Prior to his military service, Mr. Shea served as a law clerk in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana for Judge James Comiskey, now retired.

In 1970, Mr. Shea received a Juris Doctor from the University of Notre Dame Law School. He received a Bachelor of Arts in History from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio in 1967.
