Foy Devine
Has over thirty-five years of experience in civil trial and appellate litigation. His areas of practice include products liability, business litigation and medical malpractice.

The National Law Journal has called Mr. Devine "one of the South's most prominent plaintiff's products liability attorneys." He is also listed in Best Lawyers in America. Mr. Devine has particular expertise in the area of automobile products liability -- an area he helped to pioneer in Georgia with a precedent setting verdict in 1982 in a case involving defective gas tanks in Ford cars.

Born and raised in Virginia, Mr. Devine received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina. He pursued his law studies at the University of Virginia. There, in addition to serving on the Editorial Board of the Virginia Law Review and being admitted in the Order of the Coif, Mr. Devine earned a place on the National Moot Court Team, which won its regional competition and was first runner-up in the National Finals.

After law school, Mr. Devine spent two years in Washington D.C. trying cases as a court-appointed criminal defense counsel, first as an E. Barrett Prettyman fellow at Georgetown Law Center and later as a public defender. He then moved to Atlanta and joined King & Spalding where he practiced for three years before establishing his own firm. In 1996 his practice merged with Doffermyre, Shields, Canfield & Knowles to form the present firm.

Mr. Devine is a frequent speaker at professional seminars on subjects relating to civil litigation and has published numerous papers, articles and book chapters on various topics. He is an experienced mediator and is registered as a mediator with the Georgia Commission on Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Mr. Devine is a Past President of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and is a member of the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Georgia. He is also a member of the Lumpkin Inn of Court.
